The new Care and Glow foundation from the Lancome Teint Idole franchise is a serum foundation and is designed to give the skin a healthy glow makeup look.

  • It has been formulated to stay looking fresh for 24 hours
  • Medium coverage, buildable formula
  • 82% glow boosting skincare serum with Hyaluronic Acid and Mandelic Acid
  • Transfer resistant
  • Designed to make skin brighter, smoother and clearer over time

I am using shade 115C in the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care and Glow Foundation.

Please note – the photos make the shade look cooler, but if you wear a similar shade to me, this should work well. See below for my other matches.

My Review of Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care and Glow Foundation

Because I am a huge fan of glowy makeup, I just want to start out by saying that this foundation is actually more matte than I expected. This isn’t at all a bad thing, because I find the texture incredibly skin-perfecting, however, I like it best when I use a glowy base underneath it.

For the picture above, I use the Sculpted by Aimee Beauty Base in Rose Golden*, which is so far my favourite way to wear the new Lancome Teint Idole Care and Glow. The lip is also Sculpted by Aimee in Very Berry.*

If I fancied a slightly more matte look, I’d skip the glowy primer.

Which Shade?

I was matched to shade 115C which I am very happy with.

It has been a while since I used the orignal Teint Idole but I used to use 110 Ivoire (I always used to go a little lighter and then bronzer).

In the Teint Idole All Over Concealer, I use shade 110 Porcelain Beige.

What skin type is it good for? Good for dry, mature, menopausal?

I think this foundation will work for all skin types. I am 48, so have mature skin that tends to get dehydrated, and I think it works really well for me, without powder.

If you are oily, I think you’ll be able to use this, as the subtle matte finish really does help it hold.

Do you need to powder it?

I tend to avoid powders when I can, and I have found I have managed to skip powder with this so far. It may need a bit of help in the summer, but for now, I don’t need to powder. If you’re oily, you’ll need a touch of powder.

Is it easy to apply?

I find this super easy to apply and blend. I really like how this applies, especially over well-moisturised skin. It doesn’t really matter what brush I use; I find it melts into the skin really easily, without ever showing any brush marks or patchiness. It’s just a very easy job to get this on the skin.

What is the coverage like?

This is a good solid medium coverage foundation. I use about a pump and half to get a really nice flawless finish. You can build it to medium-full coverage.

What is the finish like?

The finish of this foundation is more matte than I was expecting. It’s not completely matte, but it’s more of a satin finish than how I’d describe a glowy foundation.

It does dry down and set really quickly, and it’s more matte than I was expecting. It glows but it’s not dewy. The glow comes through more as the day goes on, but I still don’t feel the need to powder.

I think it has a great blurring and perfecting action on the appearance of pores and texture.

How well does it last?

I am really impressed with the staying power of this foundation. It wears so well, particularly for a serum foundation, I find that it even wears well on and around my nose, where I usually get wearing away.

It stays looking very smooth on the skin, and I think the soft matte element of the finish is responsible for this longevity.

Does it oxidise?

I found the colour performance excellent with this foundation. For me, the colour it applies is the colour it stays all day.

Is it lightweight?

The texture has a nice creamy consistency which I really like, however, it feels light and weightless on the skin. Considering that you can build it to a medium to full coverage, it really doesn’t feel heavy at all.

It feels really nice and hydrating, and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing too much makeup at all. It is light and comfortable, and once you put it on, you can pretty much forget about it.

Is it good for redness?

Yes, I found this works well to neutralise any redness in my skin.

How does it compare to the original Teint Idole Ultra Foundation?

The new foundation has a more natural skin finish than the original. The original is designed as a full coverage foundation, so is supposed to have heavier coverage than Care & Glow.

Personally, I find the new foundation pretty buildable and I don’t think there’s much in it in terms of difference in coverage. I also think that Care & Glow is kinder and more perfecting on pores and texture.

The original does have a drier, more matte finish so may not work as well on dry skins.

How does it compare to the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow Foundation?

I think this foundation has more coverage than the Hourglass Ambient Soft Glow (review here). It has more pigment but it’s still a good medium. The Lancome gives a very subtle glow in a satin finish, and I think the Hourglass has more glow.

The Lancome has a slightly noticeable fragrance, whereas I can’t smell anything with the Hourglass. Personally, I prefer the Lancome and it is much easier to apply than the Hourglass.
