Moreover, many of the cultural aspects in India differ widely across the various states and territories, so depending on which part of the country you are learning about, there is always something new you can find. Today we will take a dive into Indian culture and traditions as a whole by looking at some of the country’s most prominent cultural aspects. This will help you get a feel of this beautiful country, which may spark your interest in finding out more about it and even booking a holiday there.

Families In India

Firstly, it’s important to look at joint families in the country. They often live together, including parents, children, and sometimes relatives. At the head of each family is a senior male or female, called a Karta. This person has the responsibility to make all social and economic decisions for the entire family. Moreover, income is placed into a common pool, which is meant to benefit all family members. Another strong tradition which is still prevalent in India is the concept of an arranged marriage, which dates back to 1500-1100 BC.

India’s Mughal Period

In the 13th century, India was ruled by the Mughals, which could be seen in the amazing Indo-Islamic architecture and great wealth of the country. If you want to learn more about Indian culture and traditions,  be sure to visit India Court at IBN Battuta Mall, where you can find out more about India’s Mughal period and witness the richness of this country. You will have the chance to see the Elephant Clock, which is the centerpiece of the court and it is an example of medieval technology. The Elephant Clock features wooden carved figures, dragons, and phoenixes, which come alive and move together at every hour.

Indian Temples

Indian temples are fascinating to learn about, as they always provide a magical experience to visitors. They feature one main idol, which usually has a copper plate, which is there to absorb and resonate the positive energy, coming from the magnetic wave lines of the Earth. If you want to visit an Indian temple, there are a few key things to keep in mind. For example, it is common for people to have a bath or a shower before entering a temple. Alternatively, you may be asked to wash your hands and feet before you go inside.

Indian Cuisine

Another key cultural aspect to consider is Indian food, as there are many amazing dishes you can try. Moreover, each region in the country has its own unique cuisine with signature dishes and ingredients to explore. In some parts of India, you will find some great vegetarian dishes, such as Gujarat and Rajasthan. There are many other regions, which are popular for their non-vegetarian options, such as Kerala in South India, where you can try some of the most delicious fish dishes in the country. The best part about Indian food is the use of fresh ingredients and wonderful spices and herbs.
