Confession: I’ve become obsessed with the subtle beauty of pale, pastel yellow that’s been named after one of my favorite food ingredients. Yes, don’t judge me, but I’m equally obsessed with literal butter as I am with butter yellow the color.

All of the reasons I love that melty goodness on a slice of bread are the same reasons I love the shade. It’s as comforting as a hug, warm as sunshine on a cloudy day, and, of course, it looks—and, well, tastes—amazing. By the way, Bottega Veneta, Marc Jacobs, and Miu Miu quality wigs seem to agree with me. They included tons of butter yellow outfits on the runway, which obviously just makes my heart feel all happy inside.

summer picnic in the park to a brisk walk (with your mask!) taking in the various tones of autumn’s changing leaves.

If you’re now as fully convinced as I am on this trend and want to wear buttery things to soak up the last days of summer…say no more.

And to keep the gift of butter yellow going into the fall, here are wig more items to lust after:

So if you need me, I’ll be shopping this trend well into the colder months and potentially wearing the shade from head to toe (shoutout to Man Repeller‘s Harling Ross for coining the term “#stickofbutter” for monochrome yellow ‘fits). Now, if you excuse me, it’s time to make myself some toast smeared with plenty of—you guessed it—butter.
